7The Australian Sugar Cane Railway takes you on a 2km circuit through the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens.

The journey takes you across several bridges and ponds, through the heart of our locomotive workshop, past the Friendship Grove, around the Woodworkers Guild forest, past the Chinese gardens and other attractions such as Café 1928, Hinkler House, Hinkler Hall of Aviation, the Rare Fruit Orchard and Australian Rainforest, Fairymead House and the Bundaberg Historical Museum.

We are disability friendly and wheelchair accessible (we have an approved access ramp for placing wheelchairs or mobility scooters into carriages).

You do NOT have to pre-book except for Private Hire of the train for Private event or function.

Tickets are available for purchase from our ticket window at the station platform.
Ride prices: As of 1st August 2025

• Adults $7
• School aged children $3.00 (under 5’s free)
• Family $18 (2 adults and 2 or more school age children)
• Disability Pensioner $3  Carer/Companion Free

Tickets are available by CASH or EFTPOS at the station on running days.

Our trains run on Sundays & Wednesdays plus most public holidays (weather permitting).

In the Queensland School Holidays we operate on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 9am and 3pm.

Our Steam or Diesel trains are available for private hire for functions such as school excursions, weddings, birthdays, groups, clubs and other private events.
Private hire allows your guests to have exclusive use of the train for the time that you have the train hired for.
