The Australian Sugar Cane Railway, Bundaberg
Bundaberg Steam Tramway Preservation Society Incorporated (BSTPS) trading as Australian Sugar Cane Railway (ASCR) is a working museum which is dedicated to operating, restoring and showcasing the history of sugar cane railways in the Bundaberg region.
All of our locomotives worked in the cane fields and mills around the Bundaberg region, with 2 of our locomotives built locally at the Bundaberg Foundry in 1952.
The ASCR is entirely maintained and operated by dedicated volunteer Rail Safety Workers who are all members of the non-profit Bundaberg Steam Tramway Preservation Society (BSTPS). There is not one paid position within the organisation. Our track is 610 mm (2 foot) gauge.
Operation usually occurs every Sunday & most public holidays (plus Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday during the Queensland School Holidays) between 10am and 3:30pm in the Bundaberg Botanical Gardens.
